Founded by accomplished costume designer, Phyllis Yandle is actively recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to meet throughout the year. Volunteers in Allegro Foundation’s Sew-In Guild design and sew props and costumes for our students with disabilities, accommodating medical specific devices such as colonoscopy bags and wheelchairs.
Allegro Foundation is primarily a learning and educational experience, so why do we even need costumes? Although Allegro is not a “performing” organization, we take strides to provide children with disabilities the same opportunity of appearing on stage as their typically developing peers. Allegro conducts winter and year-end performances in our weekly academic programs to demonstrate student progress. Displaying their achievements for family and friends is a fantastic and motivating reward for children with disabilities!
