There are 15,000 children in Mecklenburg County who have disabilities.
Allegro Foundation in only serving 400 children yearly. We have the capacity with professionals already trained to teach 1200 children weekly with disabilities.
Through the classes and programs of Allegro, children with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy or spina bifida who use wheelchairs are strengthening their bodies, helping to preserve mobility and independence. Children with Down syndrome are making a physical and mental connection between the concept of counting and the reality of moving to a beat.
Each child’s medical and emotional situation is very different and will require careful assessment and consideration throughout their participation with Allegro. To truly impact the lives of children with disabilities, the assessment and monitoring of medical and emotional state are absolutely essential; we need your support! Allegro is an independent nonprofit organization with a primary focus of serving children with disabilities. It is not an affiliate of either the Arts and Science Council or the United Way.
